Clinic Weekend at Quaaout - Note NO Saturday Paddle at Pioneer


We are hosting an outrigger paddling clinic at Quaaout Lodge on the Little Shuswap Lake on Saturday April 18th to Sunday April 19th.  The head coach for the clinic will be Leanne Stanley from Kelowna.   Check out Leanne's website: http://leannestanley.com/

Registration cost for the two days including dinner on Saturday night is $112.00 per person.  Accommodations are available at Quaaout Lodge, please ask for the room block rates when booking.  http://quaaoutlodge.com/

Draft Clinic Outline:

Saturday:

o    9 am – meet and greet

o    9:30am – Discussion of Big boat technique, differences between iron vs sprint technique discussion,  Discussion of steering basics, demonstrations on land (multistroke), discussion of drills and cues to be used on water.

o    10:30am – on water in big, set workout, individual feedback, individual video

o    12:30 – lunch, video review (bring your own or eat in Lodge restaurant)

o    1:30 – discussion of Goal Setting, Season Planning, strategies for putting crews together and placement in the boat, roles and responsibilities

o    2:30 – On water in big boats, set workout, implementing and building on feedback from morning and video

o    4:30 – Question period

o    6:00 – Paddlers dinner and story time (dinner included with registration)

 

Saturday night dinner:

Saturday night’s get together, we have arranged the Quaaout Lodge Banquet facilities and will have our dinner catered.  The dinner will be a bbq chicken and salmon buffet.  Dietary restrictions can be facilitated but you will need to let us know as soon as possible.  Drinks can be purchased from the cash bar.

·   Extra dinner tickets will be provided at $40/person but we will need to know in advance. 

 

Sunday:

  Draft Clinic Outline:

o    8am – meet and greet

o    8:30am – Discussion of small vs big boat technique difference, technique discussion, demonstrations on land (multistroke), discussion of drills and cues to be used on water.

o    9:30am – on water in small boats, set workout, individual feedback, individual video – those without small boats can paddle OC6s and switch out of club boats

o    11:30 – lunch, individual video review (bring your own or eat in Lodge restaurant)

o    12:30 – discussion of dryland training options, periodized training and paddling other paddle craft, training/racing nutrition and supplementation.

o    1:30 – On water in small boats, set workout, implementing and building on feedback from morning and video

o    3:30 – Question period, wrap up,  clean up, thanks and head home
